What is the MusicOnWheels bus?

MuseCool is proud to present the most unique music teaching project in London – our refurbished and fully fitted musical double decker bus!

 

MuseCool MusicOnWheels makes music learning accessible for those communities that need it most. Our MusicOnWheels project has been featured in press and on the radio, and has received recognition in the form of grants from local councils and the government.

 

We hold regular events throughout NYC and other major cities for both our MuseCool students and for the general public.

The events we run on the MusicOnWheels bus:

  • Introduction to instruments – children try dozens of different instruments we have on the bus to decide which one they like the most
  • Group instrumental sessions – a professional music tutor working with a small group of students to help them excel in playing their instrument
  • Group theory classes – everything a young musician need to know ranging from how to read the music to fun stories about some great musicians
  • Concerts for parents and friends – a showcase of young musicians’ skills
  • Day events held at the participating schools

MuseCool MusicOnWheels Bus Story

Our MusicOnWheels bus was created by a handful of our team. Funded by MuseCool, a crowdfunding campaign, and some major sponsors, we purchased a double decker bus in April 2019. Over that spring and summer, the team of 5 worked non-stop to turn the old bus into an exciting music space for children.

The seats were removed, the bus was washed and painted throughout, carpeted and a number of custom furniture pieces were designed and installed. We then completed the renovation by filling the bus with musical instruments!
