The initiative reflects the organisation\u2019s evolving approach to music education \u2014 one that prioritises inclusivity, collaboration, and learner feedback as central to future development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Youth Advisory Board invites musicians aged 10 to 25 to contribute ideas, share insights, and help shape ABRSM\u2019s work across syllabuses, publications, resources, communication strategies, and charitable activity. In doing so, it provides a structured platform for engagement, leadership development, and real-world insight into a global music education charity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Advisory Groups and Structure<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Participants are divided into three age-specific cohorts:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Juniors (10\u201313)<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seniors (14\u201317)<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Young Adults (18\u201325)<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each group engages in monthly online sessions, with occasional opportunities to take part in focus groups and collaborative projects. Meetings cover a broad spectrum of topics, from exam accessibility and curriculum design to public outreach and digital resources.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board offers a space where young musicians can reflect on their experiences with music education, discuss challenges, and contribute to the evolution of ABRSM\u2019s offerings. The role also enables participants to build peer networks and gain transferable skills useful in both creative and professional contexts.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pathways for Participation<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To introduce the initiative, ABRSM is hosting two free online information sessions on Tuesday 6 May 2025:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ages 10\u201315<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 5:30pm\u20136:15pm (BST)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ages 16\u201325<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 6:30pm\u20137:15pm (BST)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each webinar offers a 45-minute overview of the Youth Advisory Board, including its purpose, structure, and the types of input members may be expected to contribute. Sessions are open to all \u2014 including those unfamiliar with ABRSM exams \u2014 and do not require previous participation in formal music qualifications.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Broader Strategic Context<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The launch of the YAB aligns with wider trends in music education and cultural policy, which increasingly recognise the importance of youth-led consultation in shaping accessible, relevant programming.
