Why The Muse?

After teaching over 90k lessons, we learned that this happens far more often than not:

There's often little structure between lessons

Without a clear weekly focus, playing at home becomes inconsistent and unfocused – that is, if it happens at all!

Getting children to practice is not often a... source of joy

Reminders can get annoying, and music starts to feel like pressure.

Motivation to play drops

Enthusiasm fades fast when there are no goals, rewards, or milestones to reach.

Progress is hard to measure

Parents are generally in the dark in regards to how their kids are really doing with their lessons.

So we created
The Muse

A teaching assistant that listens to your tutor’s lessons, then creates:

Lesson summary & analytics

Imagine a fitness watch – but for your piano lesson

Clear homework for the following week

Created automatically from what your tutor said and worked on during the lesson

Musical games for your child to do at home

All based on the lesson and endorsed by your tutor first

Progress dashboard

See how your child progresses over time, and get actionable insights into what could be better

Frequently Asked Questions

The Muse is designed to support your child between lessons, with musical games based on the things that were covered in the session.

Families can use the app during the week to complete the daily musical games, track progress, and keep practice moving.

Your tutor can determine the length of the daily practice sessions with The Muse, with the shortest one being 10min.

– A lesson report and analytics, with interesting facts and comments from the tutor – so you are kept in the loop at all times.

– Musical games for your child to do at home – to make practicing fun and useful, according to what your tutor has taught.

– Overall progress reports across longer time periods – so you can clearly see how your child is doing over many lessons.

No – and that is rather the point.

The Muse is designed so that children can follow the daily practice plan independently, and have fun while doing it.

Parents receive a summary of what happened, without needing to be present, prompt, or chase during the week.

Muse is designed specifically for children and meets all current child safety standards and protocols.

There are no adverts, no social features, and no interaction with strangers.

The app operates in a closed, supervised environment accessible only through a parent-linked account.

The Muse collects only the information needed to provide the service – a name, instrument, and practice activity.

No personal data is sold or shared with third parties.

Full details are set out clearly in the privacy policy, which is available any before sign-up.

That is normal. The Muse is designed to support steady habits over time, not perfect routines, so pupils can pick things up again without feeling the whole week has been lost.

We are the world’s first MLUE – music lesson understanding engine.

That means that The Muse is the first tool to really understand the music inside a music lesson, without the tutor having to pre-select pieces or change their teaching behaviour.

This is quite hard to do if you think about it – a child’s lesson wit their tutor is a very ‘messy’ audio environment,  full of noises, talking, snippets of music, and lots of musical gibberish.

How to make sense of what’s happening, what piece is being played, and how – all the while understanding the tutors’ instruction and directions – that’s rather hard – and it’s what makes The Muse special.
